Kipling on differentiation:
The individual has always had to
struggle to keep from being
overwhelmed by the tribe. To be your
own man is a hard business. If you try
it, you will be lonely often, and
sometimes frightened. But no price is
too high to pay for the privilege of
owning yourself.
John 10:17  For this reason the Father
loves me, because I lay down my life, that
I may take it again.

John 10:18  No one takes it from me, but I
lay it down of my own accord. I have
power to lay it down, and I have power to
take it again; this charge I have received
from my Father."

John 10:19  There was again a division
among the Jews because of these words.
